K and V Homes was established in January 1997 as a collaboration between two high school classmates , each having gone their own way to pursue further education and then reuniting to initiate a career in homebuilding.  Dean graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in Finance and Colin graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Civil Engineering.  These degrees created a solid foundation for their next step as respected homebuilders in the Des Moines metropolitan area.

Prior to their homebuilding venture, both Dean and Colin worked as framers, constructing houses for other homebuilders.  Today, Colin and Dean use their education, 40 years of combined residential construction experience, and designations as Graduate Master Builders to build quality custom homes.

K&V Homes takes great pride in the time and talent of all persons involved with the construction of their houses. Should any problems arise, Colin and Dean include the following with each home purchase:

K and V Homes honors a one year warranty from the time of closing. At the end of one year, the homeowner is asked to compile a list of items to be addressed. Either Dean or Colin will meet with them personally to review this list. Most items will be able to be handled by one of the aforementioned individuals. However, should the item fall outside their realm, another tradesman will be notified to rectify the situation.

Prior to the one year walkthrough, any emergency items can be addressed by notifying one of the trained professionals on the K and V Homes Emergency Contact list. In addition to this, the homeowner may compile a list of 6-10 items and notify K and V Homes of this list. At this time, either Dean or Colin will meet with them to review the list, and, as mentioned above, either address the item(s) or notify the appropriate tradesman.

All interior equipment (appliances, mechanicals, etc.) will present with their own warranty time and disclosures.

Regardless of the situation, the homeowner should feel free to contact either Dean or Colin with any questions or concerns.

As a homeowner, you are entitled to live in your house without worrying about how to contact your builder.

Even after the one year warranty has passed, Dean and Colin remind you to consider them a resource for all of your questions concerning your home.  Be it a general maintenance issue to a new project, they are always available to help you.

Dean and Colin address not only personal taste in the homes they build, but also functionality.  Attention to every detail allows K and V Homes to design and build homes that are truly unique.  To obtain the best results, they encourage their homeowners to be involved throughout the process.  Several walkthroughs are scheduled throughout the process to ensure that all details are being addressed and that the house is progressing to the homeowner’s satisfaction.  Building a new home can be overwhelming to some, but Colin and Dean strive to make the building process enjoyable.  Offering suggestions and advice, sharing pictures of previously built homes and connecting the homeowner with their team of trades and vendors are just a few of the amenities of building with K and V Homes.
